Chain of Command
Start with your peers and your supervisor! Typically, they can recommend the right resources and/or point you in the right direction. Begin with your supervisor who is an E6 or above.
Command Chaplain
Chaplains provide more than spiritual counseling. Share what’s on your mind with your command chaplain. It’s 100% confidential! There are no reports or health record documentation.

Community Counseling Program
Community Counseling Programs provide non-medical counseling services and help marines & sailors and their families develop skills to manage life’s stressors and challenges.

Military OneSource
Military OneSource offers counseling on a broad range of topics including family, marriage, finances, stress, long-term planning, continuing education and much more. There is no referral required and no health record documentation.

Independent Duty Corpsman or General Medical Officer
IDCs and GMOs can place referrals to embedded mental health, MFTs, and network providers for serious conditions or duty determinations. They provide medical management for most mental health concerns. They also work with the CO and other providers.

Operational Stress Control and Readiness (OSCAR)
OSCARs can evaluate and treat mental health conditions with therapy and medication. OSCARs are authorized to determine fit for duty and to communicate diagnosis and plans with other providers and the CO.

Military Treatment Facility / Emergency Room
These facilities provide inpatient psychiatry and emergency room services, group treatment and comprehensive care. They are authorized to make military duty determinations and to communicate with other providers and the CO.
